trends 2 try|spring-summer 2016

Before I start, I’d like to apologize for my hiatus. I posted a notification post, but it did not post to the blog. I took about three weeks off for myself, because school, orchestra, and golf have been taking up most if not all of my time. I’m going to try to post more, since I have a trip coming up that I’ll need to schedule posts for. Thank you for understanding. I’d also like to note that I’m always accepting collaborations! Whether you want me on your blog or vice versa, please contact me at madscapri@gmail.com.

Hi guys! Happy International Tom Hanks Day. It’s April! Spring has rolled around, but in my part of the country it doesn’t feel like it at the moment.

Hooray for golf tournaments in freezing weather.

I’ve been obsessed with this website lately called Byrdie. It’s literally a godsend. I visit it almost every day to look at their posts, which include fitness, beauty, and health. It is amazing. A girl in my class actually started washing her hair the way the website tells you to, and there was a big difference. I encourage all of you to do the same {looking at YOU, LIV.} and visit them! They also report on trends going on in the beauty world, and I thought I’d explain these trends. Take a quick look at my Pinterest, and you’ll see why.

Mud and Sheet Masks

Masks! I’ve been trying them left and right, with a peel-off extraction from Clearskin, and two mudmasks from Avon and Formula 10.0.6. There are millions of these, from radiance boosting to ance fighting. There’s a huge selection of sheet masks at Sephora, and you can find virtually anything online. My favourites have charcoal and strawberries, to name a few.

Dewy Glow

Confession: I’m addicted to highlighting my face. Nose, Cupid’s bow, cheekbones, eyebrow bone. All of those places NEED glow. You can achieve a natural glow with a cream, powder, or liquid highlighter from Benefit, Hourglass, NYX, and Yves Saint Laurent.

Rosy Hair

Rose gold, copper, dusty pink, all of those need to be incorporated into hair this year. It looks amazing streaked through platinum locks, or as an easy ombre on darker hair.

Microdermabrasion “Microrolling”

Many dermatologists have sworn their clients’ success stories to microrolling, which is literally rolling tiny needles over your face to tone, sculpt, and rejuvenate.

Cushion Makeup

Another Korean trend that made its way into the U.S., cushion makeup is like liquid foundation, but airy and more dewy. It gives a blurred coverage similar to BB Creams.

These are just a few trends. What are you dying to try?

how to get noticed

Good afternoon!

Today I thought I’d shake things up a bit and do a different sort of post. Instead of beauty or style, we’ll be focusing on blogging and traffic!

IMG_2127

First things first. What is traffic?

Blog traffic, or just traffic, is how many views, likes, comments, and follows you get in a day, a week, a month, or a year! So basically, it’s the reader side of your blog. You can view your stats by going to the “My Sites” tab, next to the Reader tab  on your dashboard at the top of your screen.

Since the beginning of time it has seemed that we all want more followers. Today, I’m going to show you how to achieve that.

Follow more blogs.

Go searching for blogs similar to yours through your blogging platform (WordPress, Blogger, etc.) and follow them. If they’re active, you can except a follow back in a few days, hours, or even minutes! Following others is a great way to get more traffic on your blog. For example, if you are a beauty blog, go visit Confetti and Curves. The lovely Karen does a feature on a blogger a few times a week and you will find great blogs there.

Have a clean layout.

Who likes neon colours everywhere? Not me! If you are a blogger, you want your site to look either a) minimalistic b) sophisticated or c) clean. Speaking as a blog-browser, I’m immediately bored with a neon design. It hurts my eyes. Keep it simple with a nice header, clean widgets and sidebar, and don’t post in CAPS! DOES THIS LOOK APPEALING? Not really.

Use social media to your advantage.

Have an unused Instagram? Need an excuse to have a Tumblr? Just make one and use it for your blog! Now, this doesn’t mean spamming your feed every day with “Hey, check out my blog!” every five minutes. Maybe post something once every few days about a new blog post or something.

There you have it! A few ground rules for getting noticed. Have a lovely evening.

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!

BB Header calligraphy watercolor

I would like to post a few updates about the coming weeks as I need to sort some things out.

• I am going to start rolling out my autumn posts next week (September 22nd). I have already made an autumn playlist, which you can view HERE. If you would like to request an autumn post or have some ideas, don’t hesitate to comment below! ↓

• I am finally getting my blog organized, so if I’m not posting as much as usual, please know that I am just working behind the scenes on B&B. New updates will include organized categories, more contact information, credits and FAQs, as well as a brand new design. I know, I know. I’m always changing. Eh.

• Just a notice to those needing to contact me: I am quite active on Tumblr. My ask box is always open so if you need to ask, want to talk, or have an inquiry about the blog, it’s always open. You can follow me HERE.

• I am working on getting a blog-related email for inquiries. This should be up by the time my new design is up, which should be around the end of September or early October. If you need to contact me, again, please submit something to my Tumblr.

•Collaborations for B&B are always open! I do beauty, fashion, and lifestyle related posts! Just comment below and we’ll work something out. ↓

heads-up for the next two weeks

Hey guys! I’m back from hiatus. If you’re wondering where I was, I was painting a mermaid tail ALL yesterday and was sick on Saturday. I have a few heads-up for you today.

This week I’ll be redoing the blog which means that all posts will be temporarily hidden from view and you may not be able to access the blog from around 12:00PM Eastern- 5:00PM Eastern.

I’m leaving for the beach in a week, so the blog will not be as active as usual. This period of time will be from Saturday, July 18th to Saturday, July 25th.

Thank you!

computer issues, round two

Hey lovelies!

I am really frustrated right now because my computer has been having more boot disk problems. They have persisted, even after re-installing Windows (you can read my last post about this here) and it’s not getting any better. I have tried fixing it with various methods, but my expertise helps in no way on this one. So, I am ordering a new hard drive later this week. I may not be posting as much as I usually do, and if I do happen to come around, I will be posting low quality pictures from the iPad. Hopefully, there is a light at the end of the dark tunnel that is computer issues (*Shakespeare*) and I will be back to blogging within the coming weeks. I will probably post normally until about Thursday or Friday, so don’t you worry.

june blog roundup!

Hi!

I think it’s time for another blog spotlight/roundup/whatever you want to call it, so here we go!

Cracked China Cup

I learned about this blog from a Seventeen magazine- yes, I do read them sometimes. It follows the fashion and day-to-day life of Leomie Anderson, a Premier model. She is very beautiful and has a gift for modeling.

The Sketchpacker

This lovely artist commented on my last post, so I visited her blog and found out that it is truly amazing. Great work, keep up the wonderful sketching.

The Fashion Huntress

The owner of this blog does what I love best- finding great clothes for low prices. Great job, keeping going!

The Luxe Lookbook

I really love this blog, no words to describe its wonderful content!

That’s all for this time.
