hi, i’m mali

Bramble and Blossom has been around for a year. An entire year, guys! I cannot thank you all enough for this momentous occasion. I’d like to use this post to take a moment and let you in on myself.

I’m Mali. I really love books, I still watch Disney Channel, I’ve memorized most fonts, I’m a little eccentric at times, and I love to songwrite. I want to become a singer {that’s a secret; don’t tell} one day and go to college, maybe get a degree in film or something. I adore Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters and writing is one of my favourite things. IMG_0755.JPG

I find the beauty in small things. I’ll give people strange gifts like smooth rocks {‘hey, I found this rock I thought you’d like to stare at’ was one incident} or little beaded bracelets. It’s hard for me to let go of people, especially my friends. I sometimes daydream and spend time coming up with little scenarios in my mind.

I cannot thank you enough, all of you, for your unyielding support through the year. This blog is one of my favourite things ever, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come in the future on Bramble and Blossom. You can definitely look forward to new style and beauty posts, a renewed schedule, and more.

THANK YOU, ALL 144 OF YOU FOR AN AMAZING YEAR.

♥,

Amalia Juniper

wonderful stock photo sites

Hello lovely readers!

Today I’m going to show you two stock photo sites {I literally spelled that five times before I got it right} I love and am planning to use on the blog soon.

Resplashed

why i ♥ it: The images are usually really moody and absolutely AMAZING!

Unsplash

why i ♥ it: There are really ethereal, spoopy {scary skeletons, shivers down your spineee} pictures that speak to me.

Hope you enjoyed this cheat post! I’m sorry for not posting recently. I am pretty busy having just gotten a guitar and working on a final project for film class.

winter is almost here + holiday celebrations

GUYS.

Only 9 days until December! I am literally so EXCITED! For me, winter means Christmas, snow, evening orchestra concerts, chocolate, and everything festive! EEEEEEK.

Since I wasn’t here this time last year for Christmastime on the blog, I was thinking of doing something a bit special for all of you lovelies. Please vote below for a special celebration.

A few updates on the blog:

-I will most likely not be posting from Tuesday-Saturday unless I can get some scheduled posts together.

-I have a bunch of winter posts coming up soon, so stay tuned!

-From Nov. 30-Dec. 15 I will be cramming for a concert, so B&B may be a little bit boring with inspiration posts and such.

That’s all for now.

Please take a look over here at this three question survey for the Christmas celebrations here at B&B.

how to get noticed

Good afternoon!

Today I thought I’d shake things up a bit and do a different sort of post. Instead of beauty or style, we’ll be focusing on blogging and traffic!

IMG_2127

First things first. What is traffic?

Blog traffic, or just traffic, is how many views, likes, comments, and follows you get in a day, a week, a month, or a year! So basically, it’s the reader side of your blog. You can view your stats by going to the “My Sites” tab, next to the Reader tab  on your dashboard at the top of your screen.

Since the beginning of time it has seemed that we all want more followers. Today, I’m going to show you how to achieve that.

Follow more blogs.

Go searching for blogs similar to yours through your blogging platform (WordPress, Blogger, etc.) and follow them. If they’re active, you can except a follow back in a few days, hours, or even minutes! Following others is a great way to get more traffic on your blog. For example, if you are a beauty blog, go visit Confetti and Curves. The lovely Karen does a feature on a blogger a few times a week and you will find great blogs there.

Have a clean layout.

Who likes neon colours everywhere? Not me! If you are a blogger, you want your site to look either a) minimalistic b) sophisticated or c) clean. Speaking as a blog-browser, I’m immediately bored with a neon design. It hurts my eyes. Keep it simple with a nice header, clean widgets and sidebar, and don’t post in CAPS! DOES THIS LOOK APPEALING? Not really.

Use social media to your advantage.

Have an unused Instagram? Need an excuse to have a Tumblr? Just make one and use it for your blog! Now, this doesn’t mean spamming your feed every day with “Hey, check out my blog!” every five minutes. Maybe post something once every few days about a new blog post or something.

There you have it! A few ground rules for getting noticed. Have a lovely evening.
